About Us
The Brazilian Association for Energy Recovery of Waste (ABREN) aims to promote the energy recovery of waste, simultaneously solving two major problems in Brazil and the world nowadays: the disposal of solid waste and the generation of clean energy.
The problem of waste, produced in increasingly monumental quantities, damaging the environment, biodiversity and public health, now has a solution, the one of energy recovery.
Os recursos tidos como inservíveis em grande parte do País, são na verdade valiosos e podem ser utilizados na produção de energia limpa e renovável, o que já é realizado na grande maioria dos países desenvolvidos e emergentes.
ABREN is part of the Global Waste to Energy Research and Technology Council (GWC), a prominent technology and research institution that operates in several countries, based in New York City, United States, with the objective of promoting the best practices of integrated and sustainable waste management through its energy recovery, known as Waste-to-Energy (WTE) or Energy from Waste (EfW). ABREN's Executive President is also the President of WtERT Brazil, thus representing the WtERT Global Council (GWC).
ABREN is a member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and the German Federation of Industry for Waste, Water and Raw Materials Management or Bundesverband der Deutschen Entsorgungs-, Wasser- und Rohstoffwirtschaft e. V. (BDE), which allows ABREN to receive relevant information about the international waste market, participate in events, integrate technical working groups and seek the exchange of knowledge for the development of the Brazilian market.
